What is allowed?
The application of all Ultrasound examinations according to maternity guidelines and all Fine diagnostic ultrasound examinations are medical examinations and are subject to not subject to the Radiation Protection Ordinance (§10 NiSV). Images and films may also be created in this context.
Ultrasound in the context of practical Exercises in ultrasound courses for training and further education is not subject to the Radiation Protection Ordinance and is still permitted.
Ultrasound in the context of KV examinations is not subject to the Radiation Protection Ordinance and is still permitted.
Ultrasound to Research purposes is not subject to the Radiation Protection Ordinance and is permitted.
Ultrasound in the context of Congresses and scientific events is not subject to the NiSV and is still permitted.
What is not allowed?
Ultrasound examinations with the the sole purpose of creating ultrasound photos or films ("3D/4D baby television") without medical indication.
Ultrasound examinations of the foetus as part of Product demonstrations or for sales purposes of ultrasonic devices.
